Mount Bromo Camping Tour Package From Surabaya 3 Days 2 Nights – Mount Bromo is one of the best volcanoes in Indonesia that you must visit during your holiday in Indonesia. It’s located in East Java; the easiest way is from Probolinggo town. You can start from Bali (10-11 hours) or Malang or Surabaya (3-4 hours’ drive).
There are hostels, homestays, lodges, and expensive hotels available to book here, but make sure you book as early as you can because each hostel or hotel has a limited number of rooms.
Based on our experiences, we are trying to offer a one-night camping at a hill near Mount Bromo, such as Metigen Hill. This spot, situated outside the national park, provides stunning views while complying with the new regulations that prohibit camping within Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park. So, it will be fun and not a normal trip like people do. And another night, you will be staying at the Hotel/Lodge/Homestay near Mount Bromo area for another experience.
TOUR DETAILS:
DAY 1: SURABAYA – METIGEN HILL (CAMPING AREA)
The trip begins with pick-up from your address in Surabaya or nearby. We recommend starting before midday for a smoother journey. From there, we’ll drive for about 3–4 hours to reach our base camp in Sapikerep Village, near Mount Bromo. Once we arrive, we’ll transfer to our jeep, bringing along our camping gear, food, and all necessary equipment for the adventure.
Note: You can also start from Malang or you can just let us know your start point and we will give you the best advice.
We will drive a jeep for about 50 minutes to reach Metigen Hill which is our camping point. If we have enough time, we recommend hiking the peak of Mount Bromo in the afternoon which is much better than in the morning after sunrise. The reason is in the afternoon are fewer people and less dust. And on the next day, you just enjoy the sunrise without trekking to the peak of Bromo with hundreds of people, but it all depends on your time, you can decide when you are there.
For this camping trip, we will have dinner a bit early because we don’t want we eat our dinner with low light which is only with our torchlight. So we will have dinner before the dark comes, but it’s flexible if you have more light with you.
After dinner, you will have free leisure; you can just chill, enjoy the cold weather with stars above your head, or also do astrophotography and stargazing.
DAY 2: BROMO SUNRISE TOUR – BROMO TREKKING TOUR – CHECK IN AT HOTEL/HOMESTAY IN BROMO AREA – VILLAGE TOUR AND SUNSET IN METIGEN HILL
On the second day of the trip, we will wake up at about 4 am, which is an hour before sunrise. The sun rises about 5:30 am, but at 5 am you can already see the light of sunrise. So, there will be a lot of people coming, so we recommend hiking to Seruni Hill, so you can have the best view before the crowds come, or you can just chill in your tent and enjoy the view from there.
When the sun rises from the East, you can see the beautiful color and it gives light to Mount Bromo, Mount Batok, Mount Kursi, and Mount Semeru on the right side which makes your photo more amazing.
After enjoying the view, we will have breakfast and be ready to go back to the sea of sand and then start to hike Mount Bromo (if we did not hike on the previous day).
About 8:00, we will be ready to move to our jeep and go down to the sea of sand where we will hike the top of Mount Bromo. We will also stop at the sea of sand where you can take photos of the surroundings. Afterward, we will continue drive to parking area and we will walk about 45 minutes away to reach the top of the Mount Bromo area. The path is quite dusty and steep in the last 20 minutes.
If you feel tired, you can hire a horse to ride from the local people here.it costs about 300.000 IDR for return, the price may vary, so we recommend to bargain by yourself.
Upon your arrival at the top of Mount Bromo, you will be so amazed at the view of this volcano, sometimes it spews some smoke with a sulfuric smell. So, we are not allowed to stay here too long, because we never know when it will become more active.
After enjoying the area, we will go back to our jeep and drive to the local restaurant to have another breakfast and then check in at the local hotel/homestay nearby.
At about 3-4 Pm, our guide will invite you to walk around the village to see the afternoon activity of the local people and we will watch a sunset in Metigen Hill or similar when the weather is great.
DAY 3: MADAKARIPURA WATERFALL TRIP – TRANSFER TO SURABAYA AREA
The last day of the trip will be quite easy, no need to wake up too early. We will start the trip at about 9 am from our stay in the Mount Bromo area then we will be heading to Madakaripura Waterfall.
The drive will be about an hour and we will take a local motorbike taxi to the start point of the waterfall (it’s about 10 minutes), the trekking is also not so long, it will take about 15-20 minutes walk. For this waterfall trip, you will need a poncho, slipper, waterproof bag, and wet suit because we will get wet to get the waterfall here.
After enjoying the waterfall, we will go back to our car and change our clothes then we will head to the Surabaya area (it can be in Surabaya Juanda Airport, Train Station, or a local in Surabaya). The drive will take about 3-4 hours away.
