SURABAYA – IJEN CRATER TOUR – SUKAMADE TURTLE BEACH TOUR – KALIBARU HIGHLAND – TUMPAK SEWU WATERFALL – MOUNT BROMO – SURABAYA (6 DAYS 5 NIGHTS)
DAY 01: SURABAYA – ACCOMMODATION IN BANYUWANGI AREA
The Ijen crater tour will start from the Surabaya area (Airport, Train Station, or Hotel). Our staff will meet you, and then we will escort you to the small beautiful town of Banyuwangi Regency where Ijen Crater is located. It’s very recommended to start in the morning from the Surabaya area because the journey takes approximately 8 hours by private car.
We will have lunch at a local restaurant on our way to Banyuwangi town. On this trip, you will pass some rural landscapes, small towns, & villages. Upon your arrival in Banyuwangi, you will be escorted to your accommodation for an enjoyable stay before you enjoy the Ijen Crater trekking in the morning/midnight.
DAY 02: IJEN BLUE FIRE TOUR – SUKAMADE TURTLE BEACH TOUR (B, L, D)
The Ijen blue fire tour will start at 00:30 AM, our car will take us to Paltuding (the Parking area before you start the trekking). This journey takes approximately 1 hour from the hotel in Banyuwangi by a jeep. Arriving at the parking area of Ijen Crater, about 1.5 hours to ascend the slope of Mount Ijen to reach the peak of Ijen Crater but to see the blue flame we need to climb the crater down around 30 minutes (sports and hiking shoes are required for). When you arrive at the bottom of the crater of Ijen Volcano, you will see the amazing view of the Blue flame everybody said, it is only two in the world (only in Ijen Crater and Ethiopia).
When the sun rises, you will be invited to climb the crater to enjoy the stunning natural scenery with fresh air & shade. Resting on the edge of the crater at an altitude of 2385 meters and enjoy the best panorama of the lake of acid water which reflects the spectacular view in the surrounding walls that gives the impression of doom.
The sulfur miners go down into the crater and climb back up by passing a dangerous path on the edge of Ijen crater with a load of as much as 80 kilograms on their shoulders or could be more, but now they have such a trolley to carry the sulfur or sometimes carrying visitors who need help to reach the top of Ijen Crater which they will get more money for it.
After enjoying the natural scenery at Crater of Ijen and then descend the slope of Mount Ijen until the vehicle’s parking area where our vehicle is waiting to escort you to the plantations (coffee and clove). We will escort you back to the hotel to have breakfast and take a shower before continuing our trip to Sukamade Turtle Beach.
Then, we will continue our trip to Sukamade Turtle Beach. It takes about 2- 3 hours to reach Pesanggaran village then continue to Sukamade Beach about 1,5 – 2 hours by crossing tropical forest and small rivers by our jeep, it’s kind of an adventurous trip. Your Lunch will be served at the local restaurant.
Upon your arrival at Sukamade Turtle Beach, you will stay at a guesthouse in the Sukamade beach area. When we have time to see the sunset, we will invite you to go to the beach to see the sunset, and we will return to the beach at night for turtle spotting.
THE INFORMATION ABOUT THE SUKAMADE TURTLE BEACH TOUR
SUKAMADE TURTLE TOUR ACTIVITY:
Spotting the turtle will start after having dinner at your Guesthouse. At 8:00 PM, the rangers of Turtle Foundation and Natural Resources Conservation will take you to the shore of Sukamade Beach to see the turtle laying eggs. The rangers will give you very good guidance about what you should do and what you shouldn’t do when you are there.
These tour activities will be over before midnight and all the visitors must go back to the guesthouse together, no one is allowed to stay at the beach overnight.
ABOUT SUKAMADE TURTLE BEACH:
Sukamade Turtle Beach is very special for adventure seekers. This is the most appropriate meaning to describe a trip to this national park well known as Sukamade Beach. There are no tourists in many quantities. The only silence of the woods, the sound of rivers, the hospitality of local people, cacao, and coffee plantations.
Crossing rivers, after 3 hours on the road and 2 hours of a bumpy road, your trip will be full of challenges. Deep in the jungle, there is a beach where the landing of turtles.
7 species of sea turtles in the world and 6 species of sea turtles in Indonesia, 4 with species landing and laying eggs on Sukamade Beach. Seeing the turtles lay their eggs in the night is the most poignant sight that can be seen by visitors. Imagine the sea turtles taking distance of thousands of kilometers from their origin in the other parts of the continent far away and just laying eggs on Sukamade Beach.
ACCOMMODATION IN SUKAMADE BEACH:
The conditions here are very simple and basic, no proper shower, no wifi, no air conditioning, no phone connection, and the lack of electricity which will be off after midnight. There are no restaurants or shops there, the only small restaurants organized by the local people here only cook Indonesian food. But if you have your food, you can also cook here. So, it’s basic but more flexible and relaxing surrounded by nature.
But make sure you keep your belongings inside the room when you leave and always close the door because there are a lot of naughty monkeys here.
DAY 03: SUKAMADE TURTLE BEACH (B) – ACCOMMODATION IN KALIBARU HIGHLAND
After having breakfast in the Sukamade turtle beach area, at about 6:00 AM we will have a chance to release some baby turtles or little juveniles to the Sukamade beach and then explore the surroundings of Sukomade. After enjoying the Sukamade beach area.
We will back to our guesthouse and then continue our trip to Kalibaru Highland for about 4 hours by passing small villages, rural landscapes, rice fields & plantations. We will stop at Green Bay Beach which is a beautiful beach hidden in this national park, you can reach it by boat or trekking through the hilly jungle and short shore full of stone.
Then we will continue to Kalibaru Highland for the rest before continuing our next trip tomorrow, upon your arrival at Kalibaru Highland, you will stay overnight and have dinner at Margo Utomo Cottages or similar hotels there.
DAY 4: KALIBARU HIGHLAND – ECO PLANTATION TOUR – ACCOMMODATION IN TUMPAK SEWU WATERFALL AREA (B)
After having breakfast at your hotel, then around 8:00 AM, you will have a chance to enjoy the eco trip of plantations in the Kalibaru area. On this tour program, you will do short trekking through 09 hectares of plantations with varieties of spices such as nutmeg, cloves, pepper, vanilla, cinnamon, cocoa, coffee, and coconuts. You may also discover the extraordinary attraction of the traditional process of making palm sugar from palm tree liquid. Do not to forget visit the dairy farm.
The trip can be arranged in the morning and takes about 1 hour to 1,5 hours. Afterward, around 10:00 AM we will drive to the Tumpak Sewu Waterfall area for about 4-5 hours. Upon your arrival in this area, we will escort you to your accommodation which is the only local homestay around.
DAY 5: TUMPAK SEWU WATERFALL – KAPAS BIRU WATERFALL – ACCOMMODATION IN MOUNT BROMO AREA (B)
On the fifth day of the tour we will explore the most beautiful waterfall in East Java which is Tumpak Sewu Waterfall, we will start as early as possible to avoid the crowd which can be crazy in this special week. 1st you have to take a photo and enjoy the whole view from the viewpoint then we will go down to the bottom of the waterfall which will take 30-50 minutes, depending on your pace, but we recommend taking it slowly, because it’s bit slippery and make sure listen to our guide. The whole activity here will take mostly about 3 hours and then we will move to another waterfall which is Kapas Biru Waterfall, you can do trekking too till the bottom or viewpoint only.
Afterward, we will drive about 5 hours to reach the Mount Bromo area where you will stay for the last night on this trip.
DAY 6: MOUNT BROMO TOUR – TRANSFER TO SURABAYA
Mount Bromo tour will start at 3:30 AM from your hotel and then the jeep will bring you to the world’s most famous viewpoints, those are Penanjakan and Kingkong Hill, which is located on the rim of the Tengger caldera (2,700m). From here, you can see the enchanting sunrise with the amazing scenery of Mount Bromo, Batok, and Semeru. After you have enjoyed the view here, we will go back to the jeep then we will continue our adventure to reach the sea of sands in the Mt. Bromo area.
We will stop at the parking area then you will cross the sea of sands by riding a horse or on foot (it is optional) till reach the stairs up at the slope of Mt. Bromo which will lead you to reach the peak of Mount Bromo. At about 8.00 AM, The jeep will bring you back to the hotel for breakfast, take a shower, pack, load bags into our van, and then we will escort you to the Surabaya area which will be our last stop for you and end the 6 days trip with us.
The tour is finished.
