YOGYAKARTA – BOROBUDUR TEMPLE TOUR – YOGYAKARTA CITY TOUR – MOUNT BROMO – KALIBARU HIGHLAND – SUKAMADE TURTLE BEACH – IJEN CRATER – BALI (7 DAYS 6 NIGHTS)

WHAT MAKES THIS TOUR INTERESTING?
This tour itinerary is made at the request of some travelers who want to explore more of Java Island (between Central Java and East Java) within seven days. On this tour, you will get some information about ancient temples, volcanoes, culture, traditions, local food, plantations, herbs, and how to save a turtle from the hunters. We also offer an adventurous two-day trip during your visit to Sukamade Turtle Beach which means there will be no hot shower, no wifi, no phone connection, no good hotel/homestay, and no big restaurant, so everything will be basic. We have explained it on the itinerary so that you can read it.

On this tour, you will visit Borobudur Temple, Prambanan Temple, Sultan Palace, Mount Bromo, Kalibaru Highland, Sukamade Turtle Beach, and Ijen Crater. After finishing this tour, we will escort you to your hotel on Bali Island.

DAY 1: YOGYAKARTA – PRAMBANAN TEMPLE – ACCOMMODATION IN THE BOROBUDUR TEMPLE AREA

The Yogyakarta tour package will start from the airport in Yogyakarta city. Our staff will meet you there and then escort you to the local restaurant for lunch before you go to your hotel in the Borobudur area. We will drive from Yogyakarta to Borobudur for about 2 hours.

Optional activities around the Borobudur Temple area if you arrive before 4 pm: Biking around the village, riding a cart that brings you around the village, or any other activity that needs local people’s assistance. You can let our local team know, so he can organize and let you know how much to pay.

Important News from Borobudur Temple & Sultan Palace:

There will be no sunrise/sunset tour anymore on the top of the temple and no one is allowed to visit the top of the temple as well. From now on, we can only hike up & see the BOROBUDUR TEMPLE at with specific ticket and we will handle that ticket if you book with us. For sunrise, we will go to Setumbu Hill or Dagi Hill, the difference between these hill, you can read on the itinerary below.

On Monday, Borobudur Temple & Sultan Palace is closed, moreover Sultan Palace is opened till 14:00 only.

DAY 2: SETUMBU HILL SUNRISE TOUR & BOROBUDUR TEMPLE TOUR – YOGYAKARTA CITY TOUR – ACCOMMODATION IN YOGYAKARTA AREA

The second day of the trip will start at 4:30 a.m. from your stay in the Borobudur Temple area, and we will go to Setumbu Hill to watch the sunrise. The sunrise will be at 5:30 am and you can see the whole volcano and mountain surrounding and a far view of Borobudur Temple. This hill is very famous for some photographers because you can see the top of Borobudur temple at sunrise (if the weather allows).

Optional Program:
Waiting for sunrise at Dagi Hill, this activity includes breakfast, beanbag, table and view toward Borobudur Temple itself, if you want to apply this one, please let us know during the booking, because they limit the visitors per day.

After the sunrise activity, we will go to Borobudur Temple to explore the area, the tour here will take around an hour (which is a limited length from the Temple management for all visitors). Within an hour you can explore all the areas from the bottom to the top with all the stupas and reliefs. After enjoying the stunning temple of Borobudur, we will go back to the accommodation for breakfast and packing before continuing our trip.

Around 11.00 am, our team will meet you again and we will continue our trip to Sultan Palace, Water Castle, and optional activities such as Puppet Maker or Batik Place (if you have enough time). For lunch, we will go to the local restaurant nearby, and then, we will drive to your hotel in Yogyakarta to stay overnight.

DAY 3: YOGYAKARTA (BY TRAIN) – SURABAYA GUBENG TRAIN STATION – ACCOMMODATION IN MOUNT BROMO AREA

After having breakfast around 6:00 am, our staff will pick you up and then go to Tugu Train Station, because the train leaves Yogyakarta around 6:45 and arrives at Surabaya Gubeng Train Station around 10:45 am. After arriving at Surabaya Gubeng train station, our staff will meet you at Surabaya Gubeng Train Station then continue our trip to the Mt. Bromo area and stop on the way to have lunch in the local restaurant. This trip will take about 3 – 4 hours and upon your arrival in Mt Bromo, have dinner and stay overnight at Lava View Lodge or a similar hotel for an enjoyable stay.

DAY 4: BROMO SUNRISE TOUR – HOTEL IN KALIBARU HIGHLAND

The Mount Bromo tour will start at 3:30 AM, the jeep will bring you to the best hills to see the sunrise here, they are Penanjakan and Kingkong Hill. We will drive for 40 minutes from our hotel. When the sun rises, people will yell and look for a good position to catch the sunrise. The sunrise here is one of the best sunrises in Indonesia, besides the wonderful sunrise, you will have an amazing view of two active volcanoes and one inactive mountain. They are Mount Bromo, Semeru, and Batok.

After we enjoy the view from the top of the hill, we will back to our jeep to continue our adventure to reach the sea of sands in the Mt. Bromo area. We will stop at the parking area then you will cross the sea of sands by riding a horse or on foot (it is optional) till reach the stairs up at the slope of Mt. Bromo which will lead you to reach the peak of Mt. Bromo. At about 8:00 AM, the jeep will bring you back to the hotel for breakfast, take a shower, pack, and load bags into our van. Afterward, we will continue our trip to Kalibaru Highland for about 4 hours by passing small villages, rural landscapes, rice fields & plantations. Then upon your arrival at Kalibaru Highland, you will stay overnight and have dinner at Margo Utomo Cottages or similar hotels.

DAY 05: KALIBARU HOTEL – ECO PLANTATIONS TOUR (AROMA TOUR) – SUKAMADE TURTLE BEACH (B, L, D)

After having breakfast at your hotel around 8:00 AM, you will have a chance to enjoy the eco-trip of plantations in the Kalibaru area. On this tour program, you will do short trekking through 09 hectares of plantations with varieties of spices such as nutmeg, cloves, pepper, vanilla, cinnamon, cocoa, coffee, and coconuts. You may also discover the extraordinary attraction of the traditional process of making palm sugar from palm tree liquid. Do not to forget visit the dairy farm. The trip can be arranged in the morning and takes about 1 hour to 1,5 hours. Afterward, around 10.00 AM, we will continue our trip to Sukamade turtle beach. It takes about 2 hours to reach Pesanggaran village then continue to Sukamade turtle beach for about 1,5 hours by crossing rain forests and rivers using our special adventure vehicle. Lunch will be served at the local restaurant on the way to Sukamade turtle beach. Upon your arrival at the Sukamade Turtle Beach area, you will stay in the guesthouse there.

THE INFORMATION ABOUT THE SUKAMADE TURTLE BEACH TOUR

SUKAMADE TURTLE TOUR ACTIVITY:

After having dinner at your guesthouse at 8:00 PM, The rangers of Turtle Foundation and natural resources conservation will take you to the shore of Sukamade Beach to see the turtles where they normally lay their eggs. The rangers will give you very good guidance about what should you do and what shouldn’t do when you are there.

This tour activity will be finished before midnight and we are not allowed to stay at the beach overnight.

ABOUT SUKAMADE TURTLE BEACH:

This is the most appropriate phrase to describe a trip to this national park well known as Sukamade Beach. There are no tourists in many quantities. The only silence of the woods, the sound of rivers, the hospitality of local people, and cacao, and coffee plantations.

Crossing rivers, after 3 hours on the road and 2 hours of a bumpy road, your trip will be full of challenges. Deep in the jungle, there is a beach where the landing of turtles.

7 species of sea turtles in the world and 6 species of sea turtles in Indonesia, 4 with species landing and laying eggs on Sukamade Beach. Seeing the turtles lay their eggs at the night is the most poignant sight that can be seen by visitors. Imagine the sea turtles taking a distance of thousands of kilometers from their origin in the other parts of the continent far away and just laying eggs on Sukamade Beach.

ACCOMMODATION IN SUKAMADE BEACH:

The conditions here are very simple and super basic, so there is no ac, tv, fan, or hot shower, but this place will change your mind about how we take care of this area to be not a mass tourist attraction, where you can find a fancy place to sleep and better road to drive. But the national park of Sukamade Turtle Beach, also called Merubetiri National Park has limited its volume of visitors by not building new accommodations or any facilities that attract more tourists to come.

Anyway, in this place, you will have a small canteen where they will prepare food that we bought on the market on the way to the National park, and watch out for your belongings because there are a lot of naughty monkeys around.

DAY 6: SUKAMADE TURTLE BEACH – ACCOMMODATION IN BANYUWANGI AREA

Before having breakfast in the Sukamade turtle beach area at 6:00 AM. We will have a chance to release some baby turtles or little juveniles to the Sukamade beach. Then, we will back to the guesthouse for taking breakfast. Afterward, we will continue our trip to the Hotel in the Banyuwangi area for about 5 hours. In this route, we will pass rural landscapes, small cities, rice fields, plantations, and beaches. Lunch will be served on the way to the local restaurant. About in late afternoon or in the early evening, we will reach your hotel in Banyuwangi town for an overnight stay before you enjoy Ijen Crater trekking the next morning.

DAY 7: IJEN CRATER TOUR – BALI

The Ijen crater tour will start at 5:00 in the morning, our car will bring us to the parking place of the Ijen crater where we will start the trekking. This journey takes about 1,5 hours from the hotel. Upon your arrival at the parking area of Ijen Crater, you have to prepare everything that you need for trekking, approximately 1,5 hours will be required to ascend the slope of mount Ijen to reach the peak of Ijen Crater and along the path, you will enjoy the stunning natural scenery with fresh air & shady.

Rest on the edge of the crater at an altitude of 2386 meters and enjoy the best of the lake of acid water which reflects the spectacular view in the surrounding walls that gives the impression of doom. The sulfur miners go down into the crater and climb back up by passing a dangerous path on the edge of the Ijen crater with a load of 80 kilograms on their shoulders or even more sometimes. This is really a dangerous and hard job. Here also, you will enjoy the beautiful scenery by just sitting and eating your breakfast boxes or any snacks that you brought up here, and remember to bring your trash back to Hotel. After enjoying the natural scenery at Crater of Ijen and then descend the slope of Mount Ijen until the vehicle’s parking area where our vehicle is waiting for escorting you to the plantations. Afterward, we will be back to the town of Banyuwangi for having lunch at the local restaurant, and then we will drive to Ketapang Ferry Port and then take a ferry to reach Gilimanuk Ferry Port on the western tip of Bali Island. Upon arrival at Gilmanuk Ferry port, we will escort you to your hotel in Bali (Ubud, Lovina, Sanur, Kuta, Jimbaran area).

OPTIONAL PROGRAM

If the weather is good enough and your condition is still good as well, you can take the Ijen BlueFire tour at Ijen Crater but you are required to leave the hotel around 00:30 AM or Midnight.
