DETAILED ITINERARY FOR FLORES OVERLAND AND ISLAND HOPPING TOURS (9 DAYS 8 NIGHTS)

DAY 1: DENPASAR – ENDE AIRPORT – WOLOGAI TRADITIONAL VILLAGE – MONI (L, D)

Arrive at Ende airport in the central of Flores, you will be picked up by your English-speaking driver to Moni Village. On the way to Moni Village, we have a chance to visit the traditional village of Wologai. In that village, you will feel and see the authentic megalith society. Afterward, we go to Moni village for staying overnight at Kelimutu Moni eco-lodge or a similar hotel.

Duration: Ende Airport– Moni Village: 2 -3 Hours

DAY 2: MONI – KELIMUTU LAKE – BENA TRADITIONAL VILLAGE – MANULALU (B, L, D)

Waking up around 3:30 am then prepare your stuff for trekking to Kelimutu Lake. About 04.00 am, your driver is ready to take you to the Kelimutu lake area with its three-colored crater lakes. It takes an hour driving and 15 minutes to trek from the parking place. It is the most amazing natural phenomenon in East Nusa Tenggara. The color has dramatically changed in the last 20 years, now it has turquoise, Blue, and dark green. The morning has the best opportunities to enjoy the sunrise. About 07.00 AM, your driver will bring you back to the hotel for breakfast, take shower, pack, loading bags into our van. Afterward, we will continue our trip to Bena’s traditional village. In this route, we will pass rural landscapes, small cities, rice fields, plantations, and beaches. Upon your arrival in Manulalu, we will escort you to visit Bena Village. It is the most famous and also the most visited village in the Ngada district. With its impressive stone formations and ancestral shrines, as well as traditional houses, Bena has turned into a signpost for Ngada culture. After enjoying the village, we are going to our villa for having dinner and stay overnight at Manulalu Villa or a similar hotel for an enjoyable stay.

DAY 3: MANULALU – BAJAWA – AIMERE – RUTENG (B, L, D)

Waking up at about 5:00 am, you will be welcomed by the sunrise in front of your villa with the mountain background of Mount Inerie. You can walk around breathing the fresh air. Back to your villa, the villa will serve a menu for your breakfast while enjoying the view. About 09.00 am, we drive to Aimere area, we can make a stop for a while to see traditional winemakers. We call it “Arak” distillation and palm wine fresh by refining. Lunch will be served in Borong area, on the way to Ruteng, you can visit Ranamese lake in the cloud forest. Dinner and stay overnight at Susteran MBC, Ruteng.

Duration: Bajawa -Ruteng: 4 Hours

DAY 4: RUTENG– SPIDER WEB FIELD – DINTOR VILLAGE (START POINT TO TREK WAEREBO VILLAGE) – TREKKING TO WAE REBO VILLAGE (B,L,D)

After an early breakfast at about 8:00 am, we will depart from Ruteng to visit spider web rice fields and enjoy the Ruteng area from up the hill. After enjoying the great panorama, we will continue our journey to Dintor village where we will start our journey to reach Waerebo village on foot. The drive will take 2-3 hours from Ruteng, and then we have to trek about 4 hours to reach Waerebo Village.

Waerebo is a pretty unique village with unique traditional houses and at this point, you will have a chance to sleep under their roof, and it’s pretty basic accommodation, so don’t expect too much when you are visiting this village, and always respect the local. Upon your arrival in Waerebo village, the local villagers will provide meals for your dinner and basic beds for you, you will be side by side with some visitors too, because it’s an open space living room.

Duration: Ruteng – Dintor Village : 3 Hours, Dintor Village – Waerebo Village (4 hours by foot)

DAY 5: WAEREBO VILLAGE – DINTOR VILLAGE  – LABUAN BAJO (B,L,D)

In the early morning, before we go back to the Dintor village, you should wake up and enjoy the beauty of this village at Sunrise, sometimes it covers by fog. Around 9 am, you will have breakfast together then we continue trekking down to the village where we have started.

About midday, we will back to the Dintor village, washing up and ready to drive for 4 hours to reach your accommodation in Labuan Bajo.

About 4.00 pm, we arrive in the Labuan Bajo area, we will have a chance to watch the most popular dance in Flores, which is Caci Dance. Then we will accompany you to your hotel for having dinner and staying overnight in the Labuan Bajo area

About Caci Dance is more than just a traditional Manggarai dance. This ritual whip fight is a major element of Manggarai’s cultural identity. Being a unique and aesthetic delight for spectators, Caci performances are an attraction to foreign as well as domestic visitors to Manggarai. Caci is played out by two male adversaries, with one of them usually coming from another village to compete. It will be held for 1 – 2 hours. We will let you know earlier if they will pay or not on that day.

Duration: Dintor – Labuanbajo: 4 Hours

DAY 6: LABUAN BAJO –MANTA RAYS POINT (SNORKELING AND DIVING SITE) GILI LAWA DARAT (STAYING OVERNIGHT ON BOAT) (B, L, D)

After having breakfast at about 8:00 am, your driver will escort you to the pier of Labuan Bajo for checking in our boat. After putting all your stuff in your room on the boat, we will be ready for sailing. Firstly, we are going to Manta rays point where you can see a lot of Manta rays swim away surrounding our boats but the water is quite cold. Afterward, we are going to Gili Lawa Darat for having dinner and staying overnight here.

DAY 7: GILI LAWA DARAT ISLAND – PADAR ISLAND – PINK BEACH (SNORKELING AND DIVING SITE) – KALONG ISLAND (STAYING OVERNIGHT) (B, L, D)

At about 5:00 am, your boat will be ready to go to Padar Island where you can see stunning beaches from the top of the hill.  Before going up to the hill, you must take breakfast which is served by the crewmen. After enjoying the panorama from the hill, we have to return to the boat and go to a pink beach. This peculiar beach gets its color from red coral fragments. It is definitely a great place to spend some time just laying back or enjoying the underwater world with your snorkeling equipment. After enjoying the beach, we will head to Komodo fisherman village. Here we have a chance to take a walk to see the local people here. Then, we return to the boat for going to Kalong Island for watching the best sunset ever. It’s time for having dinner and staying overnight on Kalong island before trekking in Komodo National Park tomorrow morning.

DAY 8: KALONG ISLAND – KOMODO DRAGON ISLAND – KANAWA ISLAND (SNORKELING) (B, L, D) (STAYING OVERNIGHT)

After having breakfast at about 7:00 am, we will take a medium trek in Komodo National Park. It takes about 1 1/2 hours. It passes a waterhole where the Timor deer and wild pigs often come to drink. Sometimes, Komodo dragons can be found there lying around and waiting. You will climb Sulphurea Hill and Frigate Hill, where a magnificent view across the islands, bays, and beaches awaits. After enjoying the park, we return to the boat and go to Kanawa island for staying overnight in the area on our boat.

On Kanawa Island, you can do trekking to the hill and sit on the bar when it’s open on that day, but the resort is temporarily closed due to the hit of Corona Virus. So we will not able to stay there at this point.

DAY 9: KANAWA ISLAND – RANGKO CAVE –  TRANSFER TO LABUAN BAJO AREA (TOUR IS FINISHED) (B,L)

After having breakfast, we will be heading to Rangko Village, which is about 1h30-2h sailing from Kanawa Island, this cave is very recommended to visit. It has blue clear crystal water where you can swim and enjoy the ambient inside the cave. Around lunchtime, we will go back to Labuan Bajo and transfer you to Airport (make sure you have the latest flight) or Hotel in the Labuan Bajo area.
