TOUR ITINERARY

SURABAYA – IJEN CRATER – MOUNT BROMO – YOGYAKARTA CITY TOUR – BOROBUDUR SUNRISE –MERAPI VOLCANO JEEP TOUR – PRAMBANAN TEMPLE –YOGYAKARTA AIRPORT (6 DAYS – 5 NIGHTS)

DAY 01: SURABAYA –  ACCOMMODATION IN IJEN CRATER AREA (BONDOWOSO TOWN)

We will meet you at your Hotel in Surabaya or Airport, and then we drive to the nearest town to the Ijen Crater area (Bondowoso Town) for about 5-6 hours. In this route, we will pass rural landscapes, small cities, rice fields, plantations, and beaches. Lunch will be served on the way to the local restaurant. About in the late afternoon or in the early evening, we will reach your accommodation in the Ijen Crater area. Then, stay overnight before you enjoy Ijen Crater trekking the next morning.

DAY 02: IJEN CRATER TOUR – ACCOMMODATION IN BROMO AREA (B)

Ijen crater tour will start at 00:15 from your hotel then our car will bring us to Paltuding. Paltuding is a parking place where will park our car and start our trekking to Ijen Crater. This journey takes approximately 1, 5 hours. Arriving at the parking area of Ijen Crater (1850m), From here, you need 1, 5  – 2 hours away from our hotel Bondosowo to Paltuding, 2 hours will be required to hike the slope o Ijen Crater. The path is quite slippery in some areas, so it’s better to try to bring your own trekking shoes for better trekking. We will the most famous natural phenomenon of Blue Fire which is only  2 in the world, those are in Indonesia and Ethiopia. It’s one of the reasons why Ijen Crater is one of the famous places for all travelers around the world.

After enjoying the natural phenomenon of blue fire, we will back to the peak of Ijen Crater to enjoy the best panorama of the lake of acid water which reflects the spectacular view of the surrounding walls that gives the impression of doom. The sulfur miners go down into the crater and climb back up by passing a dangerous path on the edge of the Ijen crater with a load of as much as 80 kilograms on their shoulders. This is really a dangerous and hard job to see beside of the amazing landscape in Ijen Crater.

After enjoying the natural scenery at Crater of Ijen, we will be back to Paltuding where we park the car then back to our hotel for having breakfast, take a shower, pack up and drive for about 5 hours to Mount Bromo area.

DAY 03: BROMO SUNRISE TOUR – ACCOMMODATION IN YOGYAKARTA AREA (B) (VIA TRAIN FROM SURABAYA TO YOGYAKARTA)

Mount Bromo tour will start at 3:30 from your hotel and then the jeep will bring you to the world’s most famous viewpoints, those are Penanjakan and Kingkong hill, it’s located on the rim of the Tengger caldera (2,700m). From here, you can see the enchanting sunrise with the amazing scenery of Mount Bromo, Batok, and Semeru. After you have enjoyed the view here, we will go back to the jeep then the jeep will continue our adventure to reach the sea of sands in the Mt. Bromo area. We will stop at the parking area then you will cross the sea of sands by riding a horse or on foot (it is optional) till you reach the stairs up at the slope of Mt. Bromo where it will lead you to reach the peak of Mt. Bromo. About 9:00, the jeep will bring you back to the hotel for breakfast, take shower, pack, loading bags into our van, and then we will continue our trip to Yogyakarta by train. We will go to Surabaya Train Station to catch our train at 17:10, the train takes about 4H25M, so you will be arriving in the Yogyakarta area at 21:17. If there is a train ticket at 15:15, we will go for that time but you have to forget the optional tour of Madakaripura Waterfall, and you will arrive in Yogyakarta around 19:40.

Optional Tour: If you want to visit Madakaripura Waterfall before going to Surabaya Train Station, this time will be possible but you must leave the hotel in Mount Bromo around 10 am, it’s about an hour drive to the waterfall and for the total trip at the waterfall approximately you will need 2-3 hours, so it means, you must drive to Surabaya Train Station at 1 pm, to Surabaya you will need 3 hours (more&less). But you should remember this optional trip is excluded, so you should pay at the site to our guide for taking this trip. (only for the 17:10 train)

DAY 04: YOGYAKARTA CITY TOUR – ACCOMMODATION IN BOROBUDUR TEMPLE AREA (B)

Around 10:00, our staff will meet you at your accommodation then we will be doing a city tour around Yogyakarta, we will be visiting, Sultan Palace, Water Castle, Silver accessories place, Batik place, and Painting place.  We will take lunch in the local restaurant and Then, we will drive to your hotel in the Borobudur temple area for staying overnight.

DAY 05: SUNRISE IN BOROBUDUR TEMPLE – MERAPI VOLCANO ADVENTURE – ACCOMMODATION IN PRAMBANAN TEMPLE AREA (B)

At about 4:00, you will be picked up by our driver then we will go to start the Borobudur sunrise office where we can visit this temple for the sunrise option. Borobudur is best seen at dawn when the air is fresh and full of birdsong. As the mist begins to lift, the sun scales the surrounding volcanoes and terraced fields and highlights the reliefs of the stone and many faces of Buddha. Glimpsing Borobudur for the first time is often a deeply felt emotional experience.

This tour offers a different experience where participants were given a special pass to enter the monument early in the morning at approximately 4:30 before public visitors and visitors have to walk from the hotel to Borobudur with a pre-dawn stroll through the dewy grass of a lush tropical garden. Super scenery and a very beautiful morning at Borobudur temple could be seen when the sun would appear from the horizon. This is a truly enlightening experience.

Around 8:30. We will invite you to do a village tour in the Borobudur temple area where you will spend more time exploring the natural life of people in the surrounding and nearby villages. There you would gain the social and cultural values that exist and be well preserved. This tour brings you traveling around villages by local transportation called Andhong or horse cart (3 people maximally). Along the trip can be seen beautiful sceneries and rural living. Having a look at the rice paddies, the place to make tofu, the place for making various crafts such as pottery, bamboo, making pottery, and other activities you need to know. To complete your educational content along the tour, a local guide is needed during this tour.

Around 11:00, our staff will meet you at accommodation then we will be doing an adventurous tour in Mt. Merapi, we will drive for ± 2 hours from the Borobudur Temple area to Kaliadem Basecamp. Kaliadem Basecamp is the last place before you do the “Kaliadem Lava Tour in Merapi Volcano”. Around 1:00 PM, your jeep’s driver will escort you to Kaliadem Village; it’s a village on the slope of Mt Merapi that is totally destroyed after the last great eruption of Merapi on November 4th and 5th, 2010. The hot cloud (pyroclastic flow) hit this village. This position of the Kaliadem is 1100 meters above sea level. It makes the air still relatively cool, although the tree forest was destroyed when the hot clouds hit on. When the area was opened again, hundreds of visitors has been came until today, locals and foreigners reach the location by American Jeep and motor riding. And now, these objects can be seen at Gunung Merapi Museum. The tour will be started at Kaliadem Parkir area, from here the jeep will be ready to take you around the volcano for 3 -3,5 hours, such as visiting museum, alien stone, yellow river, the cemetery and village of the shaman of Mt. Merapi, Kaliadem hill, Kaliadem bunker, hot gasses at Gendol river, and semi lake. About 3:00 PM, the driver will escort you to our normal car and then go to your accommodation near the Prambanan temple area.

OPTIONAL PROGRAM:

RAMAYANA BALLET PRAMBANAN (OPEN AIR THEATER)

This dance-drama is a marvelous visualization of legendary epos in Javanese culture, Ramayana. Performed on an open stage and Indoor stage (depending on their regulation), Ramayana ballet invites you to enjoy the story in a set of typical Javanese dances accompanied by gamelan music. In the evenings (19:30 – 21:30), this ballet comes to life, enacted by over 200 professional dancers and musicians on an open-air/indoor stage that takes advantage of the Prambanan Temples as a backdrop. But it will be at your own cost and it depends also on their performance calender, we will check the availability for your date of travel and I will attach the price for this optional program to your total Invoice.

DAY 06: ACCOMMODATION IN PRAMBANAN TEMPLE AREA – PRAMBANAN TEMPLE TOUR – AIRPORT IN YOGYAKARTA (B)

After having breakfast around 8:30, we will escort you to Prambanan temple, it’s just 5-10 minutes from the area where you are staying. Prambanan temple is an extraordinarily beautiful building constructed in the tenth century during the reigns of two kings namely Rakai Pikatan and Rakai Balitung. Soaring up to 47 meters (5 meters higher than Borobudur temple), the foundation of this temple has fulfilled the desire of the founder to show Hindu triumph on Java Island. Prambanan temple has three main temples in the primary yard, namely Vishnu, Brahma, and Shiva temples. Those three temples are symbols of Trimurti in Hindu belief. All of them face to the east. Each main temple has accompanying temples facing to the west, namely Nandini for Shiva, Angsa for Brahma, and Garuda for Vishnu. Besides, there are 2 flank temples, 4 Kelir temples, and 4 corner temples. In the second area, there are 224 temples. And the best time to visit the Prambanan temple is in the morning starting from 7:00. So, it will be less crowded and you are able to take great photos of it. After enjoying the temple at 10:00, we will be back at your hotel and then going to the airport for catching the flight back to Singapore. TOUR’S SERVICES FINISHED.
