The trekking route can be modified if there is a closure or restricted route. If you like a more challenging route, please let us know beforehand, we will use Torean Route to go down and will not pass the Senaru area.
Descending Mount Rinjani via the Torean route is a unique experience that offers distinct landscapes and challenges compared to other routes. Here’s what you can expect:
1. Scenic Landscapes
- Waterfalls: You’ll pass a magnificent waterfall that contains hot water near Lake Segara Anak but it can be seen from far distance only
- Lush Valleys: The trail winds through green valleys with stunning views of surrounding hills, cliffs, and forests.
- Segara Anak Lake Views: As you descend, you’ll still catch glimpses of Segara Anak Lake, adding to the trail’s beauty.
2. Terrain and Challenges
- Steep Sections: The Torean route includes steep descents, requiring careful navigation. It’s less rocky than other routes but can be slippery, especially after rain.
- Narrow Paths: Some parts of the trail are narrow, with sheer drops. It’s important to stay focused and move cautiously.
- River Crossings: You might encounter small rivers to cross, so be prepared for wet shoes or sandals.
3. Cultural Highlights
- Traditional Villages: The Torean route passes through traditional Sasak villages, giving you insight into local culture and lifestyle.
- Sacred Sites: You might encounter locations considered sacred by locals, often used for rituals and offerings.
4. Wildlife and Nature
- Flora and Fauna: The route is rich in biodiversity, with chances to see tropical plants, monkeys, and birds.
- Hot Springs: Some versions of this route allow detours to natural hot springs, ideal for a relaxing break.
5. Less Crowded Path
The Torean route is less popular than Senaru or Sembalun, making it a quieter descent.
6. Physical Preparedness
While descending is generally easier than ascending, the Torean route requires good balance and endurance due to the steep and uneven terrain.
7. Weather Considerations
The trail can become muddy and slippery during the rainy season, so appropriate footwear is essential.
Tips:
- Wear sturdy hiking boots with good grip.
- Carry trekking poles for added stability.
- Be mindful of your surroundings and follow your guide’s instructions, especially in steep or narrow sections.
The Torean route is an adventurous and rewarding way to conclude your Rinjani trek, offering a blend of natural beauty, cultural immersion, and a true sense of accomplishment.
