WHAT MAKES THIS TOUR INTERESTING?
This tour is made for travelers who only put Borobudur Temple, Yogyakarta, and Mount Bromo on their travel bucket lists. We made a days tour to explore those places before we escort you to the final destinations on Bali Island. This tour is great for groups of friends, family, couples, or even solo travelers. During the trip, we will invite you to try our Indonesian Train from Yogyakarta (Central Java) to Surabaya (East Java), the train will be the highest class (executive class). You can experience it when you book the trip with us.
Important News from Borobudur Temple & Sultan Palace:
There will be no sunrise tour anymore on the top of the temple and no one is allowed to visit the top of the temple as well. From now on, we can only see the BOROBUDUR TEMPLE at the bottom of the temple, and for sunrise, we will go to Setumbu Hill.
Good news: There is a trial to climb up to the top floor but with special shoes and you must follow the queue to get the tickets (we will handle the ticket) and join the session provided by the Borobudur Temple.
Monday: Borobudur and the Sultan Palace are closed.

TOUR ITINERARY
DAY 1: YOGYAKARTA – ACCOMMODATION IN THE BOROBUDUR TEMPLE AREA
Your first-day trip will start from Yogyakarta International Airport, train station, or your hotel if you are already arriving one day before. Our staff will meet you at the agreed place and then escort you to the Borobudur area to stay overnight before you do the Borobudur temple tour and sunrise tour in Setumbu Hill.
NOTE: We recommend arriving before midday, so you can explore Prambanan Temple without hassle and save time for the second day.
IMPORTANT NOTE: WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND ARRIVING BEFORE MIDDAY, ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE ARRIVING ON SUNDAY SO THAT WE CAN VISIT BOROBUDUR TEMPLE ON DAY 1.
DAY 2: BOROBUDUR TEMPLE TOUR – YOGYAKARTA CITY TOUR – PRAMBANAN TEMPLE – HOTEL IN YOGYAKARTA AREA
The second day of the trip will start at 4:30 a.m. from your stay in the Borobudur Temple area, and we will go to Setumbu Hill to watch the sunrise. Setumbu Hill is a viewpoint situated to the northwest of Borobudur, and it offers a stunning panoramic view of the temple, mountains, and its surroundings. This hill is really famous for some photographers because you can see the top of Borobudur Temple at sunrise (if the weather allows).
As dawn breaks around 5:00 AM, our dedicated team will guide you to the prime vantage points atop Setumbu Hill. The ascent to Setumbu Hill is a gentle journey, requiring a mere 10-minute walk from the parking area. You’ll arrive at the summit just in time to witness a spectacular sunrise.
Atop Setumbu Hill, you’ll be greeted by a magnificent panorama. The sun’s first rays illuminate Borobudur Temple, nestled amidst a captivating landscape. The early morning mist weaves a veil of mystique, creating an ethereal experience. Once again, this spot is a haven for photographers, so don’t forget to bring your camera or smartphone to capture this awe-inspiring spectacle.
After enjoying the sunrise and taking in the beauty of the temple, you can return to Borobudur. You can explore the temple in detail, learning about its history and significance.
Borobudur Temple is the largest Buddhist temple in the world, and it’s a UNESCO World Heritage site. Take your time to explore its intricate stone carvings and reliefs, which depict Buddhist teachings and stories. Additionally, be respectful of the site and its spiritual significance while visiting. This tour provides a unique opportunity to appreciate the architectural and natural beauty of Borobudur and the surrounding area.
Don’t forget to immerse yourself in the local culture, interact with the people, and taste local Javanese food and snacks in the area.
Note: For now, we are only allowed to stay on the top of the Borobudur Temple for an hour, because they limit access to the top of the temple to avoid mass tourism and destruction of the temple itself.
Around 11:00 am, our staff will meet you at your accommodation for check out, and then we will do a city tour around Yogyakarta city. We will be visiting Prambanan Temple, Sultan Palace, and Water Castle (If you still have time and desire to explore something else, we can visit Batik, Silver, or Puppet Maker, let our driver if you are interested). For lunch, we will have lunch in the local restaurant where you can eat local food, and then after enjoying the lunch, we will drive to your accommodation in Yogyakarta to stay overnight.
DAY 3: YOGYAKARTA (BY TRAIN) – SURABAYA GUBENG – ACCOMMODATION IN MOUNT BROMO AREA
After having breakfast around 6:00 am, our staff will pick you up and then go to Tugu Train Station, because the train leaves Yogyakarta around 6:45 am and arrives at Surabaya Gubeng Train Station around 10:45 am. After arriving at Surabaya Gubeng train station, our staff will meet you at Surabaya Gubeng Train Station, then continue our trip to the Mount Bromo area and stop on the way to have lunch in a local restaurant. This trip will take about 3 – 4 hour,s and upon your arrival in Mt Bromo, have dinner and stay overnight at Lava View Lodge or a similar hotel for an enjoyable stay.
Note: If you prefer a later train, there is an 11:30 train that you can take, and you will arrive at Surabaya Gubeng train station at 15:30.
DAY 4: BROMO SUNRISE TOUR – YOUR OWN ACCOMMODATION IN BALI
The Bromo sunrise tour will start around 3:30 AM (when you come to Mount Bromo on the weekend, we have to start the tour earlier), the jeep will bring you to the most famous viewpoint in the Mount Bromo area. That is Penanjakan Hill/ Kingkong Hill, from the hill we can see the best sunrise in East Java with mountains and volcanoes as a background. Afterward, the jeep will continue your adventure holiday to reach the sea of sands in the Mount Bromo area. We will stop at the parking area, then you will cross the sea of sands by riding a horse or on foot (it is optional) till you reach the stairs at the slope of Mount Bromo, which will lead you to reach the peak of Mt. Bromo. After enjoying the volcanic activity on the top of Mount Bromo, you have to go back to your jeep. The jeep will bring you back to the hotel for breakfast, take a shower, pack up, load bags into our car, then we will continue our trip to Ketapang Ferry Port for about 4-5 hours. In this route, we will pass rural landscapes, small cities, rice fields, plantations, and beaches. We will drive to the last point of Java by Ferry to Gilimanuk Ferry Port on Bali Island. Then, our Bali driver will escort you to your accommodation in Bali, and you will be in your hotel, for example, Ubud/Kuta, around 9 pm, more or less.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
If you want to avoid a long drive from Mount Bromo to Bali, we recommend taking a flight from Surabaya Juanda Airport, which is only 3 hours away from Mount Bromo. If flying from Surabaya, please schedule your departure after 14:00 to ensure enough time for the transfer from Bromo. Just tell us if you’d like to end the trip in Surabaya — we’re happy to adjust the itinerary accordingly.

Dear Sofyan, we area coupe from austria and we are planing to visit Java at may 2026. We have Interesse in your Tour from Yogyakarta Temples, Citytour,
and Bromo Mountainhaiking and Jeeptour maybe the Tumbak Sewu Watherfall if possible. until to bali ( organiced). Our plan is to stay in Bali for one week, and aftherwards to Lombok. We are planing to turn around Lombok with motobike ( rent) for one week.
( We start our Jorney bevore in Jakarta to Borneo for 3 Days with Houseboad in the joungle ( Oran Gutan Station) and than back to Yogyakarta and by train to Jepara and by speedboat to Karminjunjawa for ca.5 days . Afthetwards we fly back to Yogyakarta to start the Tour with you.
