1. Ulun Danu Bratan Temple and Handara Gate
Ulun Danu Bratan Temple is the most famoust landmark in Bali, it’s located at the north of Bali. It takes about 2 hours from Kuta by car. This temple is in the western side of Beratan Lake in Bedugul. The water here is so holy, that’s why they build the temple in the lake as a prayers to the god who keeps the water here. It’s a unique temple in Bali, the only one temple that built on the water. It makes every tourist amazed to this temple.
Handara Gate is one of the most instagramable place to make photo. When you posted it to Facebook or instagram, it will make people think that you are in Bali. Handara Gate is located 10 minutes from Ulun Danu Temple

2. Mongkey Forest
Monkey Forest is an important spiritual, economic, educational, and conservation center for the village. There are many of point of interest that you can see here. For example 700 monkeys, 186 species of trees in 12.5 hectares of forest, where will allowing you to get an abundant of fresh air. It’s open from 8:30 am – 6:00 pm; the entrance fee is only 50,000 IDR for adult and 40,000 IDR for child
3. Tegalalang Rice Terrace
Tegalalang Rice Terrace is also well known as Cekingan Rice Terrace, it’s the must see destination in Ubud, Bali. It’s a rice field with Subak system, Subak is traditional Balinese cooperative irrigation system that make the hill to be a rice field where they plant the rice beautifully from uphill to downhill. It makes picturesque panorama through the area. You can walk around the field and enjoy the great ambience of Bali.
Tips: you should walk little bit further from the main field; there is good view which is less people. You can just follow the path up then down until you find the place.
4. Bali Pulina Coffee Plantation and Herb
Bali Pulina is a place where offers us the education about coffee, cocoa, or other plants that we can use for drink. There is coffee luwak or the coffee from the shit of the animal. It’s very stange from some people but it’s good to try. This place is good for stop over after visiting rice terrace.
5. Kintamani Lake View
This place is good place to see the active volcano of Mount Batur. Kintamai Lake view is a place at Mount Batur Caldera where you can have a lunch with BaturLake as the view. It’s very scenic area with great panorama. It’s very recommended to visit here even only lunch. Anyway, it’s quote cold here, around 20 degrees because the crater is in 1,500m above sea level.
6. Tirta Empul Temple
Tirta Empul Temple is one of the most famous temples in Bali especially near Ubud. It’s not just famous temple for tourist but also it has a holy springs water and normally the tourist do purification bath here. Some Balinese people also clean their body here. They believe when they do bathing here, their soul will be cleaner and the good spirit will replace the bad spirit.
7. Gunung Kawi Temple
Gunung Kawi Temple is one of Bali’s most unique archaeological sites, comprising a collection of ancient shrine reliefs carved into the face of a rock cliff. Across the river from the ancient reliefs is a temple courtyard featuring old Hindu shrines in a more contemporary architectural style, which is attended by pilgrims especially during its ‘piodalan’ temple anniversaries.
8. Tegenungan Waterfall
Tegenungan Waterfall is one for nature lovers who like waterfall without long trekking. The waterfall is located halfway between Ubud and Bali’s provincial capital of Denpasar, and it’s considered the closest waterfall from the most hectic places in Bali, which are Kuta, Seminyak, or Canggu.
9. Celuk Village
The village of Celuk, located approximately 4km southwest of the Sukawati District, is also Bali’s major centre for goldsmiths and silversmiths. Along the Celuk road is lined up with galleries and workshops. The village of Celuk is also a link between Bali’s Batubulan-Mas-Sukawati-Ubud ‘golden pentacle’ of artisans and craftsmen.
